Chris Pine: 'I'd look good in high boots and a short skirt.'

Let’s be honest, Chris Pine would look good in most things. In his career so far, he’s donned several pairs of intergalactic pyjamas, a rather dashing doublet and hose, and at one point he even opted for absolutely nothing at all. But so far we don’t remember any high boots or short skirts (though FYI you can actually buy mini skirts with his face on them on Red Bubble).

So what is the actor talking about? Wonder Woman 1984, of course. Pine was chatting with his co-star Robin Wright about working on the DC actioner directed by Patty Jenkins and was joking about the fact he had to accept that the film wasn’t about him.

“I could look good in high boots and a short skirt. Give me a shot,” he laughed.

The Outlaw King actor went on to talk about how things were different this time out.

“I found the tables had turned on me... As a man on screen in a big film, it was interesting because my ego comes out: “Well, I want the big f–king fight. Let me climb something.” And Patty’s like, “ No, not about you.” She said “not about you” more times making this film.

The director only this week released an early image of the new-look Wonder Woman on Instagram. Gal Gadot, who plays the comic book hero, doesn’t appear to be wearing high boots or a short skirt either. She instead is clad in gold-coloured armour.

The post was garnered a whopping 109,000 likes so far with comments overwhelmingly positive.

The interview between Pine and Penn was part of Variety’s Actors on Actors series.

The LA actor went on to add, “I loved, as the character, my woman. My partner. She’s my partner. So that came to define this man. What a wonderful thing, as a character, to be in love.”

It was recently announced that Pine’s new TV drama, I Am The Night, also directed by Patty Jenkins, will be shown on alibi later this year.
