DC Comics' Suicide Squad wasn't as good as we hoped it would be – and now Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt, aka Marvel's Star-Lord, has chimed in with some advice.

Speaking to io9, Chris revealed that he really likes Warner Bros movies, adding: "I think they're really cool and I'm not a real tough critic on those movies.

"But one of the flaws might have been they were introducing too many characters in Suicide Squad.

"They spent 10 minutes telling us why should we care about these characters, rather than creating trilogies for each character and convincing us to care about the characters."

Comparing characters in Marvel's The Avengers to DC's Suicide Squad, Chris said: "It's like hardwood. They grew it really slowly so it's strong. They didn't create The Avengers first.

"They did Iron Man. And they tested it to make sure it worked. Then they did [Iron Man 2] and [Iron Man 3], then they did [Captain America], and then they did Thor.

"And they created a thirst for these characters, and that's when they put them in The Avengers," Chris theorised, adding: "It's really f**king hard to do.

"And it's kind of a miracle that anyone's got it right. You know? So, I think it comes down to Kevin [Feige], his filmmakers, and ultimately, me, playing Star-Lord."

Meanwhile, Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan want Marvel to hurry up and make a Nebula-Gamora spinoff already, and Dave Bautista gave us the odds of a Guardians spinoff for Drax.

Oh, and Chris Pratt revealed in a Digital Spy world exclusive that he's dusting off his cowboy hat and spurs for an exciting new movie.

Guardians of the Galaxy vol 2 opens in the UK on Friday (April 28), and in the US on May 5. Watch Digital Spy speak with the cast at Monday's European premiere below:
