Christian Bale has been spotted with a paunch and a dodgy combover on the set of his new film, an untitled projected directed by David O. Russell. It’s a far cry from Batman.

The actor’s already been spotted looking much bulkier than usual, but the bad hair/fashion combo is an even greater departure from the debonair Bruce Wayne.

He’s playing Melvin Weinberg, a con man who coaxed seven members of Congress into accepting bribes in front of hidden FBI cameras in 1980. It was known as the 'Abscam Sting'.

His beige chino/green jacket combination reminded us of a British TV icon with a penchant for matching tie and Blazer Badge combinations packs.

Amy Adams is dressed slightly more sensibly. She plays Weinberg's partner-in-crime and mistress.

Bale was also snapped the other day on the Boston set of the film. He was looking rather chunky in baggy shorts and a t-shirt.

Bale has previously worked with David O. Russell on 2010’s ‘The Fighter’, for which the star lost 30 lbs, but gained an Oscar.

The director’s currently untitled project, previously called ‘American Bullsh*t’, co-stars ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ alumnus Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence alongside the bulky Bale, as well as Jeremy Renner and Amy Adams.
