Christine: Rebecca Hall plays troubled newsreader in exclusive new clip


The story of newsreader Christine Chubbock is one of the most shocking, and extreme media moments of the 20th century. On the morning 15 July, 1974 while reading the headlines on Suncoast Digest, a magazine news show in Sarasota, Chubbock put a revolver to her head and killed herself live on air.

Starring Rebecca Hall (‘Iron Man 3’, ‘The Town’), ‘Christine’ (in cinemas Friday) breathes life into the tragic true story with a meticulous portrayal of a woman on the edge. It sheds light on her mental health struggles and the events that led up to the aspiring and smart newswoman’s untimely death, and we’re excited to share with you an exclusive new clip.

Featuring Hall as the ambitious broadcaster, Tracey Letts as her boss Michael, Maria Dizzia as her colleague Jean, and Michael C. Hall as co-worker George, the clip gives a good sense of the growing crisis that begins to engulf Christine.

Directed by Antonio Campos (‘Afterschool’), ‘Christine’ opens in UK cinemas on Friday, 27 January.
