'A Christmas Miracle': Baby Wombat Found in Deceased Mother's Pouch Prospers at Australian Zoo

A baby wombat recovered from her deceased mother’s pouch has been prospering under the care of the Australian Reptile Park, footage shared by the park on December 21 shows.

According to the zoo, the eight-month-old joey named Holly lost her mother when the elder was hit by a car. A passerby rescued the baby wombat.

Holly now lives in an artificial knitted pouch at the Australian Reptile Park and will remain under their care until she is healthy enough to be released back into the wild, the zoo said.
