Christopher McQuarrie has slammed rumours surrounding the forthcoming reshoots of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.

Taking to Twitter, the 'Usual Suspects’ writer-turned-director wrote:

Rumours have emerged from the Making Star Wars site, which has previously broken stories from the production side of the new movies.

Jason Ward, the site’s editor-in-chief, writes: “When I asked a few crew members what was being reshot they laughed and said 'everything.’ Of course they were kidding but from the sound of it, the shooting will be extensive.”

It’s claimed that up to 40% of the movie is to be reshot, with its crew booked in to work six days a week for the next eight weeks, with 32 new sets having been recreated.

It’s not clear which parts of the rumours are inaccurate, perhaps that he is to be on-set with British director Gareth Edwards to help ensure he on the 'same page’ with his re-jigged script.

Or it could be the talk that McQuarrie’s final draft of the film hadn’t been completed by the time the movie started filming, leading to a reputedly 'uneven’ finished result.

It emerged last year that McQuarrie, director of ‘Jack Reacher’ and ‘Mission: Impossible: Rogue Nation’, was on-board the prequel, which is set before the first 'Star Wars’ movie 'A New Hope’.

The movie, which stars Felicity Jones, Mads Mikkelsen, Ben Mendelsohn, Forest Whitaker and Diego Luna, tells the story of the spy mission to steal the plans to the Death Star.

Talk of reshoots first emerged from the New York Post, and has concerned fans, particularly as the movie is due for release in December.

So far Disney has made no official comment.
