Claudia Winkleman has opened up about putting pressure on herself to have sex with her husband, Kris Thykier.

Speaking to The Sun, the Strictly Come Dancing star said “we should give ourselves a break” from feeling pressured to be intimate with our partners all the time.

"I think we put way too much pressure on ourselves – I haven’t had sex with my husband for two days let’s do it on the stairs,” the 48-year-old explained.

Winkleman went on to say how she believes the pressures are exacerbated by social media.

“I think social media is brilliant for some things but I think it does show you, ‘Oh my gosh she is just standing there looking amazing and her husband is licking her eyebrow,’" she joked.

Winkleman continued: “It’s not that I’m anti-licking an eyebrow, good luck if you can find mine.

"I just think we should give ourselves a break.”

Winkleman and Thykier tied the knot in June 2000 after being introduced by friends.

The couple have three children together: Jake, 17, Matilda, 14, and Arthur, nine.

Winkleman’s comments come after she spoke about experiencing imposter syndrome with regards to her role on Strictly Come Dancing.

Winkleman has co-hosted the Saturday night competition series with Tess Daly since 2014, having previously fronted its sister show It Takes Two from 2005 to 2010.

However, despite being a long-standing member of the Strictly family, the presenter told You magazine that she’s “waiting to be fired” from the show.

“I’m waiting for somebody to tap me on the shoulder and go, ‘Oh, sorry, we’ve got this all wrong, you are not allowed to go in again, we’ve got Rylan [Clark-Neal] instead’,” Winkleman joked, adding: “But I don’t think that’s a bad thing.”
