Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has named five young players on the bench for his side’s Carabao Cup game against League Two side Wimbledon.
There are however a few regular faces including goalkeeper Robert Sanchez who has been named in the starting with goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic still not ready for a game yet.
The Chelsea manager also confirmed there were no new injuries, but it is likely Benoit Badiashile and Armando Broja will not be available until after the international break. New signing Djordje Petrovic is also unavailable as they await confirmation of his work permit.
The Blues come into the game after a massive 3-0 win over newly promoted side Luton in the Premier League and this game against Wimbledon is in a chain of winnable games Pochettino is expected to get done without lifting a finger.
Pochettino explained why this game was a good opportunity to give young players a chance. He said: “It is not because it is our philosophy at the moment, it is because we need young guys to bring into the first team. We have some players who cannot play tomorrow [because of injuries and fitness].”
The Blues will take on Nottingham Forest in their next game in the league before the international break and Pochettino will hope that he doesn't have any injuries from this evening.
