The Conjuring 3 has become the latest upcoming cinema release to be pushed back due to ongoing coronavirus concerns.

The eagerly-anticipated sequel, which is officially titled The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, was initially due to come out on September 11, 2020.

However, Warner Bros has now confirmed that the horror outing won't be seen on the big screen until June 4, 2021.

Just like the 2013 original, and the 2016 follow-up, the movie finds influence from the real-life cases of paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren (played by Aquaman's Patrick Wilson and Bates Motel's Vera Farmiga, respectively).

This time, the twosome set out to try to save the soul of a young boy (The Haunting of Hill House's Julian Hilliard), who they believe is possessed by a demonic entity, and find themselves at the centre of a history-making murder trial.

"The process [of making Conjuring 3] was fantastic, and it's a much different feel," Wilson previously told The Hollywood Reporter. "It's still the same bones; it's still very much Ed and Lorraine.

"Again, we are pushing our characters to places they haven't gone, but the film will be a really nice addition because it's definitely a different beast. Pun intended."

Directed by Michael Chaves, who has taken over from previous helmer James Wan, it marks the eighth instalment in the ever-growing Conjuring Universe. Other titles that make up the series include the Annabelle trilogy, The Nun and The Curse of La Llorona.

Way back in August 2019, Farmiga took to Instagram to reveal that The Devil Made Me Do It had wrapped production, which makes the delay seem all the more lengthy... Promoting a movie that one finished filming almost two years ago is likely to prove quite the challenge for the ol' memory.
