Corrie star Jack P Shepherd: Hair transplant saved me from quitting acting

Jack P Shepherd has confessed he considered giving up acting over his baldness as he showed off the results of his hair transplant.

The 31-year-old Coronation Street star admitted suffering from male pattern baldness - the thinning of hair around his temples - affected his mental health so badly he decided to have surgery earlier this year.

Shepherd shared the results of his hair translant on Instagram, saying: “9 months it’s been since I had my hair transplant, this is the first time I’ve compared pictures to what I used to look like. I decided to get it done as it was affecting my mental health. To the point where I considered giving up acting and not being in the public eye. Thank you so much @asimshahmalak and everyone at Crown Clinic.”

The actor shared pictures from before the procedure, highlighting his hai rloss, as well as a view of the scarring after the surgery alongside a recent picture revealing the regrowth.

Shepherd has starred as David Platt in the ITV soap for 19 years and won praise for opening up about his insecurites about hair loss.

Fellow Corrie star Alan Halsall, who plays Tyron Dobbs, sent his support, commenting: “Looks brilliant mate 👏 and it helps so many people who feel just like you did, just letting them know they have options!”

Shepherd underwent the transplant at the Crown Clinic in Manchester after noticing his hairloss he decided to have the procedure after noticing his hair loss on screen.

He said at the time: 'I decided to have it done because my hair loss has really escalated in the last year, particularly at the front of my scalp. I remember seeing myself on screen and thinking: ''Oh my God, it is really falling out''.'

Shepherd has been dating Hanni Treweek since 2017, following his split from fiancee Lauren Shippey in 2017 after 15 years together.

He is father to son Reuben and daughter Nyla with Shippey. He also has an eight-year-old son Greyson following a one-night stand with sales executive Sammy Milewski in 2010.
