Scream actress Courteney Cox has waxed lyrical about the upcoming fifth movie, which is heading to cinemas early next year.
Reprising her character Gale Weathers for the film, Woodsboro's relentless journalist who appeared in the four previous horrors, Cox appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show this week to talk shop.
"This is the fifth one, you know, it's not Scream 5 though..." she assured her former co-star, who portrayed the original movie's first victim Casey Becker.
"This is Scream. These directors, I mean God, the directors [Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett] are just incredible.
"It's a new franchise. It's hip, it's scary, it's just a new Scream. It's not a reboot, it's not a remake, it's just a brand new launch. I think it's gonna be fantastic."
Sounds like there could be even more Ghostface killings on the horizon.
Just over a year ago, returning Sidney Prescott star Neve Campbell discussed her uncertainty about joining the project.
"I definitely had a period where I was thinking it would just be too odd to do a movie without Wes [Craven, the late director] and I wasn't certain that I would want to do that," she recalled.
"But, I think enough time has passed. I got this really, really respectful letter from the directors of the new one. They came to me with Scream 5, and these directors are incredibly talented."
Scream will hit cinemas on January 14, 2022.
