Critics’ shock at Kidman urine scene in The Paperboy

Bizarre Nicole Kidman Paperboy jelly fish scene causes a stir in Cannes

Cannes is famous for a bit of controversy, be it Lars Von Trier’s Nazi comments or Brad Pitt and Kristen Stewart charging for interviews to fund their private jets.

Now Nicole Kidman (of all people) has caused a stir with her new movie ‘The Paperboy’.

According to disturbed movie hacks in Cannes, the film features a rather gratuitous scene where she wees on co-star Zac Efron’s face. Really.

In the movie, the unlucky youngster (Efron, of course) gets stung by a gang of jelly fish, so Kidman must take action.

Apparently the scene features early on in the flick about a journalist returning to his Florida hometown to investigate a case involving a death row inmate.

Some of the more comedic reactions from local press go as follows:

Robbie Collin  from The Daily Telegraph described the scene as “so bad it has to be seen to be believed... He goes swimming in the sea and gets attacked by about ten jellyfish. Nicole squats over his face and does the needful."

Meanwhile, Empire’s Nick de Semlyen said that he "did not wake up today expecting to almost instantly see Nicole Kidman p****** on Zac Efron's face. Thanks for that, The Paperboy. #Cannes... I need to reboot my mind."

Sam Clements from Picturehouse was just as surprised by the now infamous scene, tweeting; "The jelly fish scene. THE JELLY FISH SCENE. #thepaperboy#Cannes... THE CLOSE UPS!"

‘Precious’ director Lee Daniels is behind the movie, due to be released in the UK later this year.
