Olivia Colman, star of The Crown, Peep Show and The Favourite, has landed her next movie role, and it sounds quite intriguing.

As reported by Variety, the actress will star in the film Joyride as main character Joy, a 'train-wreck' of a person who is on a run and planning to give away her newborn baby to her best friend. Apparently she will be joined by a 'street urchin', which sounds quite Dickensian to us, which makes sense as the film is being described as "a feel-good foul-mouthed fairytale".

What we do know is is that this film will be a comedy, or at least a comedy-drama, as first-time feature film director Emer Reynolds said: "We're thrilled to have the wonderful Olivia Colman, an artist of such incredible talent, intelligence and depth – not to mention comedic brilliance.

"It's going to be a pleasure harnessing her rawness and her comedy and, vitally, the profound bravery that is visible in all her work."

Colman herself described the character as one she "couldn't get out of [her] head", and we are very keen to see what this movie actually is and how it turns out.

Late last year, Colman was announced to be starring in a Sky and HBO crime drama called Landscapers, which was written by her husband. Hopefully we'll hear a bit more about that one soon.
