The Crown's Emma Corrin has reacted to Prince Harry's recent comments on the hit Netflix royal drama, for which she won a Golden Globe on Sunday (February 29th) for her performance as Princess Diana.

The actress told reporters at a virtual backstage event as part of the ceremony: "I was very moved by the fact that he [Prince Harry] acknowledged it. I’m incredibly grateful to him and incredibly moved by what he said."

Harry had appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden last week, during which they enjoyed afternoon tea on an open top bus in LA, and the duke spoke about family life in Montecito with Meghan and son Archie.

When James asked the royal what he thought of The Crown, which has been criticised by some MPs for perceived inaccuracies of historic events, he replied: "It's fictional. They don’t pretend to be news.

"But it's loosely based on the truth. Of course it's not strictly accurate, but loosely... it gives you a rough idea about that lifestyle and what the pressures of putting duty and service above family and everything else - what can come from that."

He concluded: "I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family or my wife or myself. Because it’s the difference between, ‘That is obviously fiction, take it how you will,’ but this is being reported on as fact because you’re supposedly news. I have a real issue with that."

Gillian Anderson, who also won a Golden Globe for her role as Margaret Thatcher in the series, added: "Harry is fairly well qualified to judge what is fact or fiction. He's understood what [creator] Peter [Morgan] is trying to do on The Crown."

The Crown won four Golden Globes, which also included Josh O'Connor winning Best Supporting Actor, and the drama wining Best Television Series.

The Crown is available to stream on Netflix now.
