Tom Cruise has "issues" with Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master, according to reports.
The Mission: Impossible star, who became friends with the filmmaker after starring in Paul's previous film Magnolia, was invited to a preview screening of the drama, which is loosely based on the the life of Scientology founder and leader L Ron Hubbard.
Sources close to the film told TheWrap.com that Tom - a Scientology follower - had issues with some parts of the film, although Tom's spokeswoman had no comment.
Philip Seymour Hoffman stars as Lancaster Dodd, the creator - referred to as The Master - of a cult-like religious movement called The Cause, with Joaquin Phoenix as his right-hand man.
Amy Adams and Laura Dern also have roles in the film, which is set for a release later this year.
The film's trailer premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.
