‘Cuban Chrome’ Reality Series To Premiere In July On Discovery Channel

Discovery Channel has set a July premiere for Cuban Chrome, its new reality series focusing on Cuba’s classic car culture and the island nation’s fascination with American vintage cars.

Billed as the first U.S. TV series to be shot entirely on location in Cuba, Cuban Chrome will debut at 10 PM Monday, July 13 and will be simulcast in English on Discovery Channel and in Spanish on Discovery en Espanol. The series was first announced at Discovery’s upfront in March. Watch the promo clip above.

After the 1959 Cuban Revolution and the subsequent U.S. embargo, it has been illegal to import American cars to the island nation – as a result, Cuba’s vintage American cars are frozen in time Produced by Craig Piligian’s Pilgrim studios, the docu-series follows members of A Lo Cubano Car Club and their efforts to preserve their treasured cars and pass them down from generation to generation. Production access was granted prior to the historic announcement last December that the U.S. and Cuba were re-establishing diplomatic relations and reaction to that announcement from members of the car club is chronicled in the series.

Piligian, Sam Korkis and Eddie Rohwedder executive produce for Pilgrim Studios, along with Rhino Pictures’ Louis Milito, Phil Conserva and Carlos Marimon. Denise Contis and Craig Coffman exec produce for Discovery with Todd Lefkowitz as coordinating producer.
