Stephen Curry touts perfect night vs. brother Seth: 'He played well and we won'

Much has been made of the matchup of Stephen and Seth Curry in the Western Conference finals.

While the brothers aren’t each other’s primary defenders, they are crossing paths. And little brother Seth got the best of his two-time MVP big brother in the first half of Thursday’s Game 2.

As Stephen moved the ball past mid-court midway through the second quarter, he didn’t notice Seth creeping up behind him. Seth snuck up on Stephen and picked his pocket in a play that eventually resulted in an Enes Kanter bucket for the Trail Blazers.

It was part of a big second-quarter surge from Portland, which extended a two-point first-quarter lead to 65-50 at halftime.

Big brother wins in the end

Seth had a big game off the Portland bench with 16 points including a late go-ahead 3-pointer in addition to a game-high four steals, some at his brother’s expense.

But Stephen got the last laugh with a game-high 37-point performance to lead the Warriors to a 114-111 win to take a 2-0 series lead.

To Stephen, it was an ideal situation as mom and dad Sonya and Dell watched from the stands.

“This was like the coolest experience I’ve had playing against him,” Curry said after the game. ... “He was amazing tonight. Every minute he was out there defensively he was a pest. He made three big shots in the fourth quarter that were very timely.

“For my parents, I know we’ve talked about it the whole series — it’s probably nerve-wracking as heck for them. But it worked out perfectly tonight. He played well, and we won.”
