Daily Digit: A majority of Americans get news from social media. But do they trust it?

Daily Digit is the story behind the numbers that make our world work. Today we’re looking at the role of social media in news. According to a recent study, 68% of Americans get news from social media, and most of that news comes from Facebook. A majority of this audience expects the news to be inaccurate and prefers to receive news from other places. Although consumers feel news on social media may be inaccurate, they do see some benefits. One-third of those surveyed say it helps them have a better understanding of current events. Where do you get your news from?
