Daisy Ridley Wishes Fans A Happy Star Wars Day From Episode VIII Set

With the global success of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ barely out of our minds, Daisy Ridley has recorded a special message to celebrate Star Wars Day while on the set of ‘Episode VIII.’

The official ‘Star Wars’ YouTube channel posted a funny video of the British actress who plays the new trilogy’s heroine, Rey, as she wished everyone a Happy Star Wars Day, with it being 4 May (or #MayTheFourthBeWithYou, as per the Twitter hashtag) and all.

In the video, we get a glimpse at a section of the set for the upcoming movie directed by Rian Johnson (’Looper’), as well as a couple of alien friends and one very familiar droid in the shape of BB-8, who makes a welcomed appearance near the end.

In the short clip, Ridley accepts a very, ahem, special gift from co-star John Boyega (who plays Stormtrooper turned hero Finn). She also mentions the impact Force For Change, the global charity set up in the ‘Star Wars’ name that’s helped so many people over its active years.

With the recent home release for ‘The Force Awakens’ adding to the record-breaking cinema run that topped $2 billion in ticket sales, filming has already begun on the next instalment. Sandwiched between ‘Episode VII’ and ‘Episode VIII’ is ‘Rogue One’, starring Felicity Jones.

The at present untitled ‘Episode VIII’ will see Ridley and Boyega reprise their roles alongside Gwendoline Christie, Oscar Isaac, Adam Driver, Carrie Fisher, Domnall Gleeson, and Mark Hamill, as well as some new names to the fray like Benicio Del Toro and Laura Dern.

‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ is in UK cinemas on 16 December, 2016, with ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII’ in cinemas from 15 December, 2017.
