Gemma Collins has had a dramatic fall during a live episode of Dancing on Ice, leaving her in tears – but Piers Morgan lead the celebrities and fans cheering her on for getting back on her feet and notching up her best score.
The Only Way is Essex star had said that she was hoping to let her skating do the talking after last week’s row with Jason Gardiner during the show, where she accused him of selling stories about her and he called her a brat.
All seemed to be going better during her emotional skate to Celine Dion’s It’s All Coming Back To Me Now, until towards the end of the routine Collins took a nose dive into the ice and ended up flat on her front.
She tried to laugh off the fall, but was in tears by the time she made it up to the judges’ desk and partner Matt Evers later confirmed that she was being treated by the physio.
Boyfriend James “Arg” Argent, in the audience, said: “She’s backstage crying her eyes out, she’s embarrassed, she’s in pain, she’s got ice packs on her knees…I’m so proud of her, I love her.”
Unfortunately for The GC, not everyone was so kind.
Judge Gardiner told her: “It’s amazing, when you drop ‘The GC’ and you work hard, there is an improvement…is there enough of an improvement to catch up to the celebrities who are well ahead of you?”
Collins has been doing her best to stay positive this week by enjoying a night off at the National Television Awards, but has worked hard to improve her skating.
Didi Conn was the unlucky celebrity voted out of the contest after going up against Saara Aalto in the skate off.
It was a rough week for Ryan Sidebottom, who had to miss skating live after suffering a groin injury in training.
Melody Thornton had much more success, managing a series of complicated lifts and spins including the terrifying headbanger for the first time this series which saw her to the top of the leaderboard.
James Jordan came back from his stumble last week and reigned in his nerves to score 31.5 for a Jive-inspired routine.
Christopher Dean told him: “You are blurring lines between the professional and the celebrity now – you are getting so good that I would not have known whether you were the pro or the celebrity.”
Skating fans were in for a treat, as the episode also included judges Torvill and Dean’s first ice routine of the series.
