From Good Housekeeping

EastEnders star Danny Dyer has shared his joy at becoming a grandfather - while his daughter Dani has revealed the inspiration behind her newborn son's name.

Danny congratulated his daughter on Instagram on Sunday (24 January), as due to coronavirus restrictions, he was unable to be at the hospital and meet his grandson.

"So my baby had a baby," he wrote. "We needed some joy this year. So proud of you cannot wait to meet the little beaut."

On the latest episode of the pair's podcast, Sorted With The Dyers, he proudly announced: "I’m a Granddad! Granddad Danny is what I’m now known as."

He then played a voicenote from Dani, which revealed her son will be called Santiago, or Santi, for short.

"I know you’re all probably wondering what we’ve called him," she explained. "There’s been a lot of assumptions going on, some are actually really funny to be fair, but his name is Santiago.

"I know a lot of you are probably thinking 'what?' but that is his name, but we are going to be calling him Santi. I think it sounds nice on the birth certificate."

When baby Santiago was born on Saturday, she shared this message on Instagram: "After a very long day and night finally our special little boy arrived 23/01/2021.

"Weighing 7 pound. We are in a complete baby bubble and enjoying every moment, can not believe he is ours, completely in love and so grateful to be his mummy. Sending all my love to all the other mommas to be out there in lockdown.. the best experience ever will never forget this day."
