Darth Vader Confirmed For Star Wars Rogue One

The worst-kept secret in ‘Star Wars’ history is finally out of the bag as Entertainment Weekly has confirmed that Darth Vader will indeed return to the big screen in this November’s ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’.

The magazine’s front cover (below) confirms “Darth Vader is back” while a supporting online article reveals the issue contains the full scoop on Vader’s return including “a run-down of the Sith lord’s first day on set, and what his return means for the larger Star Wars storytelling universe.”

EW’s extensive preview also includes details on the new Imperial vehicles - the AT-ACTs and TIE Strikers - that appear on the magazine cover (above), more info on Felicity Jones’ Jyn Erso and her father played by Mads Mikkelsen, who is apparently a “scientist whose knowledge is sought by both sides”, and new character information, hinting that one of the main players will be familiar to Star Wars fans already. Hmm, who could that be?

They’ve also got new details on the film’s reshoots, so keep an eye out for more details as the magazine begins to hit newsstands.

‘Rogue One’ is set before the events of ‘Star Wars’ and it tells the story of how the Rebel Alliance stole the plans for the Death Star and so Vader’s presence isn’t that surprising.

Back in April it was reported that British actor Spencer Wilding had been cast as the Sith Lord, but that remains unsubstantiated for now.
