Dave Bautista isn't known for holding back when he has something to say. The outspoken wrestler-turned-actor vocally campaigned for James Gunn to be reinstated as the director of Marvel Studios' Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and recently blasted the Fast & Furious movies, saying "I'd rather do good films" when asked if he'd take a role in the franchise. But Bautista has been uncharacteristically quiet about his role in the upcoming Dune remake. At least, until now.

It was first announced that Bautista would be appearing in Denis Villeneuve's multi-movie adaptation of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel back in January, but there were no details about who he might be playing. Now that shooting is underway, Bautista is breaking his silence; he just shared a photo from the set revealing that he has taken the role of Rabban Harkonnen.

In the original novel, Rabban is the brutish, sadistic nephew of Baron Vladimir Harkonnen, and known as the "Beast Rabban" for his cruelty. Set in a distant future in which humanity is scattered across planetary fiefs, Dune takes place primarily on the desert world of Arrakis, which Rabban is tasked with overseeing on behalf of his uncle. Think Game of Thrones meets Star Wars.

Bautista will be perfectly suited to playing Rabban, as he has already honed his skills as an intergalactic warrior: he played Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, which made use of his hulking, shredded frame as well as his surprisingly adept comic timing.

The first Dune movie is expected to be released in November 2020. In the meantime, Bautista can be seen starring in action comedy Stuber alongside Kumail Nanjiani.
