David taking film away from cinema?

30 July 2012

Larry David is reportedly planning to take his new film project away from the big screen and back to TV.

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star and Seinfeld writer has been working on an untitled secret film project co-starring Jon Hamm and Michael Keaton and directed by Superbad's Greg Mottola for release in cinemas with Fox Searchlight.

But now The Los Angeles Times reports Larry is thinking of moving the project to HBO to be made as a TV movie, as the channel is willing to offer him a bigger budget and give the comedian more creative freedom than having to please a cinema audience.

Larry and Greg - who have both worked with HBO before - would not be the first people to choose the small screen over the big screen of late.

Steven Soderbergh chose to make his Liberace biopic Behind The Candelabra, starring Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, with HBO instead of for a film studio.
