A no-holds-barred girl gang movie might not sound like a traditional Worlds of DC feature, but old-school fans needn't worry – Birds of Prey will have plenty for the purists.

Revealing all to Comicbook.com, the writer of DC's upcoming solo Harley Quinn movie, Christina Hodson, promised a "really fun" experience for old and new fans alike.

The Bumblebee writer also reflected on the recent leaks about Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)'s cast, calling the line-up "awesome".

"It’s really fun and different," she admitted.

Seemingly taking inspiration from one Harley Quinn herself, Christina went on to say that, "aside from the fact" the studio wants her to keep quiet, Birds of Prey details are staying under wraps because "it's fun not to say anything".

"There's going to be whole bunch of fun little surprises for fans and for new people to the DC universe to discover," she added.

As well as a bunch of DC callbacks and Easter eggs, Birds of Prey is also going to be packed full of fun. We wouldn't have expected anything less, puddin'.

Revealing the inspiration behind the film's mouthful of a title, Christina Hodson recently said the full title was meant to be "a working title" only".

"I just had it as a cheeky little thing, on the front cover," she said. "And then, when we were talking about a title and brainstorming, we all kept drifting back to that one."

Birds of Prey is expected to land in cinemas on February 7, 2020.
