DC and Warner Bros are pressing ahead with their New Gods movie and, in a detail that's made us a lot more excited for it than we were before, the villains have now been confirmed.

Director Ava DuVernay, who previously helmed A Wrinkle in Time (the one where Reese Witherspoon turns into a giant cabbage bird), has been responding to fan questions on Twitter and she let slip which baddies we can expect from the upcoming project.

She confirmed that she was a big fan of the character Big Barda and that she can't wait to include the Female Furies, the elite squadron of evil warriors that Barda used to be part of before she defected and became a hero.

The Furies serve under Darkseid, who is one of the DC Universe's most powerful villains and ruler of the planet Apokolips. He will also be in the movie.

His appearance was a big part of Zack Snyder's plans for the Justice League movies, especially with the dream sequences in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the later appearance of Steppenwolf. Obviously, things didn't turn out that way.

Fans have already been asking for Ray Porter, who Snyder had cast and filmed a cameo with, to finally get his chance. We can get behind that, but we'd also love to see Michael Ironside return to voice him from the DC Animated Universe.

And if they want to bring back Up's Edward Asner as Granny Goodness, we wouldn't complain either.
