The sequel to the barn-storming box office hit ‘Deadpool’ could be starting filming sooner than we thought, according to reports.

The Whatsfilming website, which logs productions and their start dates, is now listing the sequel as rolling from January, 2017, in Vancouver.

Though this might sound like top news for fans of the ‘Merc with the Mouth’, it only emerged last month that Tim Miller, the mastermind behind the first movie, had exited the sequel.

It’s been claimed that new contract negotiations with the movie’s star Ryan Reynolds were lengthy, and finally involved too much input from the actor over matters like casting.

Now it’s said that David Leitch, director of ‘John Wick’, is in the frame to take on the sequel, but this would leave him barely two months to get a vision for the sequel together.

The first movie was a major success for Fox, making $782 million (around £630 million) and signalling a comeback for Reynolds.

But its success was said to be in no small measure down to Miller, who worked tirelessly on the movie’s special effects at his own special effects house, Blur Studio.

According to ScreenRant, the production start date had been suggested for early 2017 by producer Simon Kinberg, but that may have been the plan prior to Miller’s departure.

But if it is still planning to start in January, Leitch, or whoever takes on the movie, might have their work cut out for them.

Only last week, it was announced that, in something of an unexpected turn of events, Miller was heading to Sony to work on a new movie adaptation of ‘Sonic The Hedgehog’.
