Deadpool Invades X-Men: Apocalypse Japanese Trailer, Trolls Fox

Well played 20th Century Fox’s marketing team. Well played. Because with ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ due for release in Japan at the start of August they decided to give the blockbuster an extra promotional push by calling in Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool to cameo in the trailer. And it’s glorious.

After ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’’s trailer comes to an end it then abruptly cuts to Deadpool sat in a director’s chair, and the masked vigilante then launches into a hysterical diatribe that pokes fun at Fox and then proceeds to riff on the X-Men family.

Anyone who likes ‘Deadpool’, ‘X-Men’, movies or simply laughing needs to watch and revel in the clip, which you can watch below.

It’s quite clear that Ryan Reynolds’ cameo for the ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ trailer was actually recorded a while ago, as he teases the release of ‘Deadpool’ in Japan, even though it hit cinemas in Japan on June 1.

Despite being kept out of the loop regarding ‘Deadpool’s’ konnichiwa to Japanese audiences for several weeks now it doesn’t diminish just how preposterously entertaining it is to see Ryan Reynolds as the character again. Even if it was just for a couple of minutes.

While sharing 5 things that audiences might have missed from the ‘Apocalypse’ trailer Deadpool pokes fun at the studio responsible for his own origin story and the ‘X-Men’ franchise by quipping, “Not everyone makes it to the end of Fox movies,” which he jokes is why they’re now doing post-trailer scenes as well as post-credits ones.

Deadpool then makes an obligatory reference to Wham as well as comparing himself to Olivia Munn’s Psylocke, before then promoting ‘Deadpool’ itself, labelling him as the “newest addition to the super-dysfunctional X-Men family.”

Fingers crossed that we’ll get to see more of Deadpool when ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is finally released in Japan on August 11, starting with another post-credits scene. Wishful thinking I know, but one can dream.
