Deadpool & Wolverine has been hailed as a cameo-filled MCU outing, but some of its big names have been spoiled well before the movie landed in cinemas.

The latest Deadpool movie marks the return of Laura aka X-23, Wolverine's daughter first introduced in 2017's Logan and portrayed by Dafne Keen. It seems that Keen's eagerness to join the New York City premiere played a role in her return being spoiled in the final Deadpool & Wolverine trailer.

"Dafne really wanted to go to the premiere and we said, 'Well, she really can't come to the premiere because it would be a spoiler.' We hadn't shown it yet," Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige told Variety at the Deadpool & Wolverine NYC premiere earlier this week.

X-23's appearance teases "an emotional core of the movie," Feige continued, adding that Disney marketing knows "exactly when to push a little forward and pull a little back."

Marvel ultimately agreed that X-23 should be included in one of the promotional trailers because, as Feige put it, "it was great in the final trailer" and "that meant Dafne could come to the premiere."

Keen is but one of the many actors making a brief appearance in Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman's movie. Speaking with Digital Spy about the film's multiple leaks, writer-director Shawn Levy said spoilers had been a calculated risk when choosing to shoot the movie on location.

"We made a choice early on. The traditional way to make one of these huge movies is largely on sound stages with green screens or LEDs or Volume work and mocap," he said. "We said no to that. Before we started, we said no."

Deadpool & Wolverine is in UK cinemas now and released in US cinemas on July 26.
