Deadpool's Ryan Reynolds explains real reason for Hugh Jackman 'feud'

·3-min read

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds has explained the real reason behind his ongoing 'feud' with Hugh Jackman – and the answer may (or may not, depending on how much of a fan of the latter you are) surprise you.

The pair have been engaged in a public spat for many years now, since meeting on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2008. They often try and best one another with their respective booze brands on social media, set up pranks involving other celebs, or joke in interviews that they just don't get along.

While appearing on Sean Hayes, Will Arnett and Jason Bateman's podcast Smartless recently, Reynolds was asked "Who pissed somebody off?" to which he replied: "You know Hugh Jackman is... I really shouldn't say this, but he... he makes kindness look like murder.

"I mean he really is just the nicest guy you'd ever meet, and it drives me nuts sometimes. There's no 'but' unfortunately, he really is the real deal."

The Wade Wilson actor went on to joke that he finds Jackman's innate kindness "infuriating" at times, and that his jealousy over his internal optimism is likely why he "lashed out" at him in the first place.

"He reciprocates, of course, because he's nothing if not a sportsman. And that's kind of it. But in reality, he's like my life sherpa. He's one of the best guys I know," Reynolds admitted.

Kind words aside, Jackman took a pop at Reynolds just a few days ago, after he shared a video of Deadpool making his unofficial debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The four-minute clip sees the Merc with a Mouth react to Reynolds' new film Free Guy alongside Thor: Ragnarok scene stealer Korg.

Towards the end of the promo, Deadpool asks his new pal whether he had any tips to getting into the MCU, to which the character replied: "Uh, have a dream... uhhh, chase it. Lose that dream. Just sabotage all sorts of happiness in the pursuit of that dream.

"Climb up to the peaks of that mountain and when you get to the top, land at the bottom and realise you're never gonna achieve that dream, and at that point, check your emails. Maybe you'll get something from your agent saying, 'Marvel wants to talk.'"

"Wow! 4:12 and no mention of me. DP, your therapy is working," Jackman laughed in the Instagram post's comments.

Ah... and the balance is restored.
