While Ryan Reynolds has made plenty of great movies (Green Lantern excluded), he reckons his upcoming film Free Guy is the best of the lot.

The Deadpool actor stars in the new movie as a bank teller who discovers he's a background character in an open world video game that's about to go offline.

Free Guy also boasts a pretty impressive cast, with Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and Stranger Things' Joe Keery among those taking part.

Taking to Instagram to post a new magazine cover shoot, Reynolds admitted: "It's my favorite movie I've ever done. Just an absolute fastball of joy. Can't wait to get it out there. On... December 11th?"

Speaking about the film last year, the actor discussed how much he related to his character, saying he hadn't felt that "fully immersed [and] engaged" since Deadpool.

"We live in really weird – really weird – times right now," he told Digital Spy and other media. "You're like watching the news and they're like, 'The top story today is the end of the world... Now to find out what's really happening between Kylie Jenner and Tyga.' You're like, 'What the f**k?!'"

He added that he felt a "kinship" with the character as he also feels "like a background character in the world".

"This is all happening on some sort of automatic loop that you have no control over, and I just so felt this connection to this character," Reynolds said.

Free Guy, which also stars Taika Waititi and Lil Rel Howery, is currently set for release on December 11, 2020.
