Death comes to Fast and Furious 7

All roads lead to early graves in seventh film

Every bit of news that comes out of the 'Fast and Furious 7' camp seems to suggest that fans are in for a much darker story than any of its predecessors. With loads of cast members returning for new director James Wan's sequel, should fans be preparing themselves for some serious casualties by the time the end credits roll?

Shooting has begun on the seventh in the 'Fast and Furious' series and one official still has been released with beady eyed snappers also leaking several more shots from the sets onto the internet in recent days. Fans who wish to go into 'Fast and Furious 7' knowing as little as possible may not want to read the following speculation for fear of spoilers.

Judging from what can be fathomed so far, it looks as though 'Fast and Furious 7' is about to go darker, meaner and there will be no guarantees on any cast members making it through to the eighth and ninth in the franchise.

The official still

The first official still posted to Vin Diesel's Facebook account suggests the premiere pair, Brian and Dom are not happy about something. Speculation has considered that they are perhaps in hiding or in mourning as both men look solemnly out into the distance. This still suggests gloomier times are ahead with Jason Statham's villain no doubt hot on the heels of the gang and hunting for revenge for his deceased brother.

Cemetery filming

Filming has begun in Atlanta with an elementary school and correctional facility already being used as locations. Most interestingly though and perhaps most worryingly is the snaps taken of the cast and crew filming at an Oakland cemetery. With Lucas Black only recently added to the cast, could his returning Sean Boswell from 'The Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift' be first to bite one of Statham's bullets or is he back for the long haul?

The use of a cemetery makes one thing very clear. Someone dies. If the still was not evidence enough of something very bad happening that will upset the crew, then this location choice rams it home. Death comes to the crew and Statham's villain is definitely going to shake things up. But who will it be in the coffin? 'Fast and Furious 6' had such a huge cast that any additions in the next film will make the film positively burst at the seams. Could new director James Wan be about to hack and slash at the beloved cast, to make room for his new entries?

James Wan

Lest we forget, the latest director to take the helm of the franchise has not always worked in the action genre. Wan is best known for giving us 'Saw', 'Insidious' and 'The Conjuring'. With revenge on the mind of Statham's villain, all roads are leading to disaster for the protagonists. Will Wan be making a splash by returning to his horror roots? Could there be revving chainsaws as well as revving engines?

With cemeteries, a sadistic director and furious gazes clearly on the agenda, fans must be asking who will survive 'Fast and Furious 7' and what will be left of them?

Pete is a cautious fan of the Fast and Furious films; enjoying the fast cars and furious fights but not so keen on the cheesy dialogue. However he's not going to be telling Vin Diesel that last bit any time in a hurry…
