Deion Sanders is having the historic early signing day Jackson State promised. The NFL Hall of Famer got a commitment from De’Jahn Warren, the top-ranked junior college cornerback in the nation, on Wednesday during Sanders’ first recruiting season.
The four-star prospect committed to Georgia in August, but flipped from the power SEC program to the FCS-level HBCU. He’s the highest-rated recruit to sign with Jackson State.

Warren is a Maryland native who played at Lackawanna Community College in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Jackson State, led by eight-time Pro Bowl corner Sanders, and Penn State have been working hard to flip him after his commitment to the Bulldogs, per Rivals.
“This has been an amazing experience for me. I’m just a kid from Landover, Maryland, who’s chasing his dreams,” Warren said in an Instagram video announcing his commitment. “After given the chance, I couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to be coached amongst the greats. With over 45 years of experience, I think I found a home for me. Without any further ado, it’s time to party at JSU.”
Warren had offers from 35 schools, including Alabama, Auburn, Florida State and Oklahoma.
Deion Sanders’ sons join him at Jackson State
Sanders had another win on Wednesday in bringing the family back together again. His son, Shilo Sanders, is joining his brother and father at the FCS school.
The defensive back entered the NCAA transfer portal on Monday and made his announcement late Tuesday, hours before the early signing period began.

Shilo was the No. 62-ranked cornerback in the 2019 recruiting class. The 6-foot, 195-pound defensive back played in nine games for the Gamecocks this year as a redshirt freshman. He tied for seventh on the roster with 32 tackles.
“Pops said he needed some dawgs! So I’m joining my brother to help change the game at JSU and level the HBCU playing field,” Shilo wrote on Twitter with a photo of Deion with his two sons in Tigers gear.
His younger brother, Shedeur Sanders, announced last month he would join his father at Jackson State. Shedeur, a Rivals three-star quarterback in the class of 2021, switched his commitment from Florida Atlanta last month. The three-time Texas state champion wrote on Twitter he “couldn’t pass up a opportunity to help level the playing field & pursue equality for HBCUs.”
Deion Sanders shared additional photos on Instagram, thanking his sons for the help.
“I get to develop, coach, love, motivate, challenge and watch my sons grow and go become professionals,” he wrote.

Deion Sanders took the Jackson State job in September despite never having been on a college football coaching staff. He was an assistant at Trinity Christian Cedar Hill High School in Texas where his sons attended.
