Deleted Scenes For Star Wars: The Force Awakens DVD Revealed

The home entertainment release of ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ is almost here and the most exciting part of the release for many fans will be the deleted scenes.

US site Uproxx managed to get hold of a copy and have given a run-down of the six deleted scenes on the Blu-Ray version of the film.

*SPOILERS BELOW*

Here they are, in (what we think is) chronological order. The quotes are from Uproxx writer Mike Ryan.

‘Finn and the Villager’
“Finn is still in full Stormtrooper gear at the beginning of the film and he comes across a fleeing villager. They stare at each other for a few seconds, then the villager runs off.”

This is similar to the moment at the end of the sequence when Finn refuses to shoot at the villagers, so we can see why it was cut.

‘Jakku Message’
“Here, we get an early Leia scene where she’s given information on Poe’s crash landing on Jakku. Basically that he’s missing and so is BB-8. Leia then says, “Never underestimate a droid.””

This could have been cut to delay the appearance of Leia until later on. Still, a nice line.

‘X-Wings Prepare for Lightspeed’
“Shortly after the Falcon crashes on Starkiller Base, the Resistance X-Wings enter lightspeed. What this scene does is better establish the pilots. It’s a lot like in the original Star Wars when the pilots all check in, “Red Leader, standing by.””

By the sounds of it this would’ve given more screen time to Nien Numb – always a good thing.

‘Kylo Searches The Falcon’

“While Snowtroopers search the Falcon, Kylo Ren enters the cockpit and says, “Han Solo”.”

This was featured heavily in the trailer for the deleted scenes and some of the early on-set photographs.

‘Snow Speeder Chase’
“We only see Finn shooting at some Snowtroopers while Rey pilots a speeder. (The effects aren’t done, so some of it looks like a video game.) But there’s no lead up in this scene to explain why they are in this speeder in the first place, it’s just the action.”

Lots of fans were excited about this sequence after cool-looking toy snow speeders were released last year, so it’s a shame that we won’t get to see the full scene with finished CGI.

‘Finn Will Be Fine’
“When we left Finn at the end of The Force Awakens, his life was still hanging in the balance after losing a lightsaber fight to Kylo Ren. In this scene, Doctor Kalonia takes all the tension away by telling Rey, with a big smile, “You’re friend’s gonna be just fine”.”

This scene clears up any lingering doubt that Finn would be back and in rude health for ‘Episode 8’. We think the below shots from the deleted scenes trailer could be from this scene.

The deleted scenes trailer also features another sequence that apparently will only be on the digital download.

It sees Han Solo, Chewie, Finn and Maz Kanata in Maz’s castle. They seem to be underground and trapped by Stormtroopers. “Is there another way out of here?” asks Han. “No”, says Maz.
