Conor McGrandles’ header in the third minute of time added-on early a dramatic point for the Addicks for a 2-2 scoreline on the south coast.
Abu Kamara’s stunning strike and Colby Bishop’s penalty had twice but the Blues in front, before being pegged back, but remain top of League One.
Nonetheless, there were some excellent displays amid the point – and here our our Pompey player ratings...
Unfortunately beaten at his near post for both of Charlton's levellers, the second time to break Pompey hearts the third minute into stoppage time. Produced one lovely moment in the second half with a drag back to send May flying by. (Photo: Jason Brown) Cleared Morrison’s cross off the line on 20 minutes when the scoreline was goalless and a couple of forays down the wing. But otherwise defensively solid. (Photo: Jason Brown) Has never let Pompey down and clearly an excellent deputy for the injured Poole. Revelled in the aerial battle with Leaburn and used possession well. (Photo: Jason Brown) Should escape any criticism for conceding two goals with another dominant display from the impressive Irishman. Excelled in the air and used ball extremely well . (Photo: Jason Brown) Back to his normal self after Chesterfield, with some good raids down the left flank. Some very good moments defensively too as he continues to improve that side of his game. (Photo: Jason Brown) Pompey’s heartbeat maintained his excellent form with another strong display. Covered every blade, always biting and chasing. Such a pivotal player. What a challenge in the dying seconds to prevent Alfie May getting in a shot. (Photo: Jason Brown) An absolute delight to watch. His shot inside opening minute brought a save out of keeper which set the tone for a magnificent individual display oozing class and the occasion wonderful piece of skill. Superb. (Photo: Jason Brown) (Replaced by Christian Saydee on 70 mins) So much energy and enthusiasm. Never stopped chasing and harrying and understandably tired before his substitution. Gives Pompey a different threat to others in that central attacking midfielder role. (Replaced by Zak Swanson on 87 mins) Took a few knocks in the second half but kept plugging away and emphatically won the penalty. After that poor second-half display at Chesterfield was right back on it and one of the star performers. Thwarted in second half when header from Robertson cross was brilliantly saved by Maynard-Brewer. Also struck the bar from a tight angle after Kamara’s initial shot hit the woodwork. But deadly again from the spot. (Photo: Jason Brown) (Replaced by Gavin Whyte on 70 mins) -Wonderful 20-yard right-footed volley opened the scoring and in second half hit the woodwork when a left-footed shot was pushed onto it by the keeper. Funnily enough, had an otherwise quiet afternoon. Paddy Lane takes on Tayo Edun down the right flank in Pompey's clash with Charlton. Picture: Jason Brown/ProSportsImages (Replaced Abu Kamara on 70 mins) Nothing went right for him after his introduction as he searches for his Pompey form. (Replaced Terry Devlin on 70 mins) A couple of driving runs and offered good threat. (Replaced Paddy Lane on 87 mins) Alex Robertson drags a shot wide during the first half of the Charlton encounter.
