Derry Girls and Ted Lasso stars team up for new comedy
Ted Lasso's Hannah Waddingham and Derry Girls star Siobhán McSweeney are teaming up for a new comedy.
West the Road, which will also star The Crown's Imelda Staunton and Catastrophe's Eileen Walsh, is set to tell the "hilarious and heartfelt story of a group of women brought together by the death of their childhood friend, Margaret".
After the women learn that Margaret gave her daughter up for adoption when she was just a teen, they journey from the West of Ireland up the Wild Atlantic coastline to look for her, so that Margaret’s mother can meet the grandchild she never knew she had.

The official synopsis continues: "What follows is a story about friendship, love and the unstoppable resolve of women as they rediscover the joy of living."
West the World marks Ita Fitzgerald's directorial feature debut, though she has written and directed various shorts and commercials, as well as several episodes of BBC medical drama Doctors.
"It is a dream come true to work with these amazing and talented women," said Fitzgerald. "I'm grateful to Bankside, Stigma and Cowtown for helping me bring this story to the screen."

Meanwhile, Stephen Kelliher of Bankside Films added: "West the Road is a wonderful celebration of life and the indomitable force of female friendship.
"We are thrilled to be able to tell this story with such a talented cast and crew who will deliver a film that is full of laughter, joy and a great deal of emotion."
Waddingham can currently be seen in the third (and perhaps final) season of Ted Lasso on Apple TV+, and is co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest in Liverpool this week.
McSweeney is set to reprise her role as Mary in the second season of Disney+ series Extraordinary.
West the World begins production in Ireland later this year.
