Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has cleared the way for the reopening of businesses in his state despite medical experts urging that it’s not safe to do so without significantly more COVID-19 testing.
Starting Friday, stores, restaurants, movie theaters, malls, museums and libraries will be permitted to open at 25 percent capacity, according to CNN.
They opening Texas Friday ?? God has answered my prayers— Charles Omenihu (@charless_94) April 27, 2020
Because who amongst us isn’t excited at the prospect of meeting friends for dinner or drinks or getting out of the house for a movie date? It sounds great.
Except there’s the problem that doing so could leave to another wave of COVID-19 outbreak.
Deshaun Watson’s response
For this reason, Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson is taking a different approach to Texas being open for business. He’d prefer that his teammate do the same.
Man, keep yo ass in the house bruh! Lol 🤦🏾♂️ https://t.co/0KO5pdPbc0— Deshaun Watson (@deshaunwatson) April 28, 2020
Talk about leadership.
Omenihu takes notice
Watson’s tweet caught Omenihu’s attention.
Lmfao I am bro I just wanna play ball ! 😂— Charles Omenihu (@charless_94) April 28, 2020
He also posted after his initial tweet that he urges everyone to take proper social distancing and hygiene precautions. But he just wants to get back to normal.
Disclaimer, I still advice everyone to stay inside ,and wear a mask wash your hands all that , but I just want to have a season is that too much to ask for 😭— Charles Omenihu (@charless_94) April 27, 2020
And don’t we all?
But until the COVID-19 pandemic is contained, breaking from social distancing protocols comes with the risk of furthering the outbreak, causing illness and death and prolonging a closed society.
So for his leadership, Watson deserves applause.
