Discovery’s ‘Cuban Chrome’ Marks First U.S. TV Series Shot Entirely in Cuba

Discovery Channel is revving up for its new auto series “Cuban Chrome,” set to premiere July 13.

Produced by Pilgrim Studios, the docu-series is the first American television series to be filmed entirely on location in Cuba. Plans for the series were under way even before President Obama made the decision in December to restore diplomatic relations with the Communist country.

The show centers around the A Lo Cubano car club — a team of expert Cuban automobile mechanics who rehabilitate classic American cars, out of necessity because newer cars were banned from being imported.

Executive producers for “Cuban Chrome” are Craig Piligian, Sam Korkis and Eddie Rohwedder (Pilgrim Studios); Denise Contis and Craig Coffman (Discovery); and Louis Milito, Phil Conserva and Carlos Marimon (Rhino Pictures). Todd Lefkowitz is the coordinating producer.
