Disney shares footage of realistic lightsaber set to debut at Star Wars Hotel in 2022

Disney has finally revealed footage of its realistic, retractable lightsaber that will be unveiled alongside the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience at Walt Disney World in 2022.

The reveal comes on 'May the fourth' a date that has become synonymous with Star Wars in recent years, and is now known as 'Star Wars Day', an annual day of celebration. After teasing fans with the prospect of the real-life lightsaber, Disney Parks revealed that it can be seen by guests who stay for two nights ‘aboard’ the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

While guests are promised to be “the first to see it in action," Disney are yet to confirm to fans whether the lightsabers will be available for purchase.

Alongside the realistic lightsaber reveal, Disney also gave fans an insight into what they can expect if they book a stay at the themed hotel.

As guests arrive at the hotel they will enter a special Launch Pod offering virtual views of space as they move towards the "massive and magnificent Halcyon starcruiser.”

Upon arrival from the launch pod to the Starcruiser, guests will be able to, “interact with an eclectic group of characters both familiar and new,” including the “strong and charismatic captain.”

Guests will dine in the Corellia Dining Room. For the uninitiated, Corellia is home to both Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon.

The dining room promises to offer breakfast and lunch to their “passengers” before “transitioning each evening into a lavish multi-course menu of both otherworldly and familiar origins.”

Guests of the hotel will not only see the inner workings of the Halcyon starcruiser, they be able to learn the art and the “ancient ways of the lightsaber and even take a trip to Batuu (Galaxy’s Edge) during their stay.
