Disney’s Live-Action Jungle Book Gets A Sequel

It looks as though ‘The Jungle Book 2’ is already on the cards…

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the upcoming live-action ‘The Jungle Book’ by Jon Favreau is already getting a sequel… and could see the director return.

“Disney believes that one of the bare necessities for its movie slate is more ‘Bare Necessities’,” they explained. “Days before the studio opens its live-action take on The Jungle Book, Disney is already putting together the pieces for a sequel.”

And it sounds as though Favreau may be back at the helm…

“Jon Favreau and Justin Marks, who respectively directed and wrote the movie, are in negotiations to return in their roles for a follow-up,” they revealed. “Favreau also will produce. Brigham Taylor, who produced the upcoming movie with Favreau, will also return.”

Although Disney’s live-action remakes of their classic animated movies have so far failed to ignite the imagination, it looks as though ‘The Jungle Book’ is about to open to critical acclaim.

Early reviews suggest a visually-striking and utterly immersive experience, which walks the line between Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel and the animated Disney film we all know and love.

And it sounds as though it’s enough to get a sequel green-lit.

“The studio has every reason to be high on the new movie. Jungle Book is already generating very strong reviews and currently stands at 100 percent on review aggregating website Rotten Tomatoes.”

‘The Jungle Book’ stars Bill Murray as Baloo the bear, Ben Kingsley as Begheera the panther, Scarlet Johansson as Kaa the serpent and Lupita Nyong’o as Raksha the wolf. Newcomer Neel Sethi makes his film debut as Mowgli.

‘The Jungle Book’ heads to cinemas on 15 April 2016.
