Yahoo Movies Disney's new movie Wish will get a "long run" in cinemas
Disney's next musical Wish is set for a "long run in theatres around the world".
With a voice cast including Oscar-winning West Side Story star Ariana DeBose, Chris Pine and Alan Tudyk, the magical tale follows 17-year-old Asha, who makes a plea to the stars upon sensing a malevolence in the Kingdom of Rosas.
Fascinatingly, it also serves as the origin story of the famous 'wishing star' that crops up in other Disney flicks such as The Princess and the Frog, Pinocchio and Lady and the Tramp.

At a press preview event attended by Digital Spy, Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios and co-writer Jennifer Lee confirmed that Wish will have a long stint in cinemas, in contrast to the speedy Disney+ premiere of other recent projects such as Encanto, which landed on the platform after only 30 days on the big screen.
Lee went on to explain why the upcoming movie wasn't kept as a surprise for the centenary celebrations and instead unveiled at last year's D23 Expo.
She began: "When we were going to announce this, they were going to tease it, and I said it's going to sound like we're doing Frozen 3, because it had Chris [Buck] and me together.
"No, we have to wait until we can announce enough that you know it's not Frozen.

"I love our sequels, it's an honour when people like anything you created enough that it's worth a sequel, so I'll never feel anything but grateful for it.
"But I also love our originals, because that's an important part of who we are and how we discover where we can go in storytelling."
Lee added: "So I think number one for the start for us is that this had to be an original."
Wish lands in cinemas on November 22, 2023.
