Doctor Who's Ncuti Gatwa lands next movie role
Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa has been cast in a remake of The War of the Roses alongside Olivia Colman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
Gatwa has joined the star-studded cast of The Roses, a reimagining of the 1989 divorce dramedy which originally saw Kathleen Turner and Michael Douglas in the lead roles.
The film is to be directed by Jay Roach from a script penned by Tony McNamara.
The Roses stars Colman and Cumberbatch as picture-perfect couple Ivy (Colman) and Theo (Cumberbatch), whose enviable marriage hides resentment and rivalries which eventually lead to a nasty divorce.

Gatwa isn't the only new addition to the ensemble, with SNL star Kate McKinnon and Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg also joining the upcoming dark comedy.
Rounding out the cast are GLOW's Sunita Mani, Love Life's Zoë Chao, Stath Lets Flats' Jamie Demetriou and The Great's Belinda Bromilow (via Deadline).
Like the 1989 film, The Roses is based on the 1981 novel by Warren Adler and is set to offer a present-day adaptation of that cult divorce movie.

"When Searchlight sent me Tony McNamara's script, I was skeptical, because I loved the original film," Roach said.
"But as a fan of Tony's darkly hilarious writing, and with Olivia and Benedict attached, I should have known it would go a new and wonderful direction. Adding in this phenomenal dream cast will make this relatable love-story/divorce story a wild cautionary tale."
"We feel so fortunate to be working with this remarkable, wonderfully hilarious group of actors," said Matthew Greenfield, President of Searchlight Pictures.
"Jay has truly assembled an astounding cast to bring a modernistic impression and contemporary relevance to this reimagining."
The Roses doesn't have a release date yet.
