Dominic Monaghan keen on Star Wars VII role?

Lord of the Rings star apparently wants a part

COMMENT | After a vague hint that he may be considered for a role, Dominic Monaghan seems to be rather keen on landing a part in 'Star Wars VII'.

It's not surprising that everyone and their mums wants a part in the new 'Star Wars' movie. We've already heard plenty of actors express a rather sudden keen interest in the galaxy far, far away. But while Dominic Monaghan was once thought to be up for consideration, it looks as though he's still keen to make his presence known… especially to J.J. Abrams.

Answering a tweet from a fan, Dominic Monaghan revealed that he may have already been pestering J.J. Abrams for a role in the upcoming 'Star Wars VII'. But has he been successful?

Explaining that the number of phone calls he's made to Abrams is 'less than 4000' it certainly looks as though he's keen to land a role. And to be honest, who wouldn't be? After all, 'Star Wars VII' is likely to be the biggest film of 2015… maybe even the decade. And for 'Star Wars' fans such as Monaghan himself, it must be too tempting to resist.

Of course, this isn't the first time Dominic has been linked to the galaxy far, far away… and after a brief interview at the 'Lone Ranger' premiere, it looked as though he may already be involved.

"I can't answer that question," he replied when asked whether he'll appear in 'Star Wars VII'. "Ask J.J. Abrams - he'll know."

But whether or not Monaghan ends up in the galaxy far, far away remains to be seen. And after working with Abrams on the hit TV show 'Lost' I wouldn't say it's out of the question. But while Abrams may enjoy working with actors he's used before, casting decisions are bound to come under close scrutiny. After all, they have to get it right.

Still, there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Dominic Monaghan - He's already proved himself worthy of big screen roles in 'The Lord of the Rings' and he's certainly regarded as a solid actor amongst fans and geeks alike. But will he actually land a role? We'll have to wait to find out.
