'Don't Breathe' Deleted Scene: A Disturbing New Look at a Father's Rage (NSFW)

Don’t Breathe is one of the year’s best horror films — and, also, one of its most profitable. The Fede Alvarez-directed thriller, which was made for a reported $10 million, has grossed an impressive $151.4 million globally. Genre fans who didn’t catch it in theaters will get another opportunity to experience its anxious action — about three kids who try to rob a blind man in his home, only to learn that he’s far from a powerless victim — when it debuts on digital HD on Tuesday and on DVD and Blu-ray later this month. Ahead of that premiere, we’ve got an exclusive red-band deleted scene from those home-video releases.

Warning: Major spoilers to follow

In the above clip, Stephen Lang’s blind man sits motionless beside home intruder Rocky (Jane Levy) in his basement lair, where she’s replaced his prior captive — who’s now dead on the floor. Desperate to escape, Rocky attempts to relate to Lang’s psycho by pleading that she understands why he’s done what he’s done. Lang, however, disagrees, telling her that only a parent can truly understand the bond shared between a father and his daughter. He then describes what his child meant to him, and — in a gut-wrenching final disclosure — what it was that his daughter’s killer was up to when she committed her unforgivable crime.

It’s a brief, but powerful scene that lends additional depth to Lang’s villain, who remains one of 2016’s most memorable and menacing big-screen characters. Check it out above; Don’t Breathe hits digital HD on Nov. 8 and then physical media formats on Nov. 29.
