Human sacrifice! Dogs and cats living together! Mass hysteria! That’s about the reaction we’d expect to the first official still from ‘Stranger Things’ season two.
Entertainment Weekly just released the picture from the continuation of Netflix’s small screen sci-fi phenomenon due later in 2017, and in-keeping with the 80s-loving nature of the first season, we see our young heroes paying tribute to one of the best-loved movies of the decade: ‘Ghostbusters.’
And this is merely a teaser image ahead of a trailer due to be released this weekend for the Superbowl, so watch this space. (Update: we now have the full trailer below.)
The still shows Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) heading into Hawkins Middle School in costume on Halloween – note the pumpkins on the school steps and in the window.
However, while Mike and Lucas seem caught up in conversation (how to build their own proton packs, perhaps), it looks like something has Dustin spooked. Or maybe he too can see whatever it was Winona Ryder saw at the SAG Awards.
The first season saw the youthful protagonists, along with Ryder’s troubled single mother Joyce Byers and David Harbour’s Sherriff Jim Hopper, uncover a slew of bizarre secrets and supernatural horrors in search of Joyce’s missing son Will (Noah Schnapp).
Next to nothing has been revealed about season two beyond the fact that it’s set one year after the first season, and producer Shawn Levy has told EW, “The Demogorgon was destroyed but evil wasn’t.”
If that sentence makes no sense to you – do yourself a favour and watch ‘Stranger Things.’ It isn’t for nothing that it’s become arguably the most popular and acclaimed original show Netflix has produced so far.
And you’ve got plenty of time to catch up, as ‘Stranger Things’ season two will come to Netflix this Halloween.
