When asked by Raymond Stoner, head of Anston Properties, if he could just save time by having twins William replied: “Twins? I think my mental health would be tested with twins. Two is fine, I don’t know how I’m going to cope with three; I’m going to be permanently tired.”

Kensington Palace announced this morning that the Duchess of Cambridge went into labour in the early hours on 23rd April.

Although the couple never revealed her due date, it was widely speculated that the 36-year-old would give birth to her third child on St George’s Day.

Kate Middleton has suffered from pregnancy condition, hyperemesis gravidarum, during all three of her pregnancies.

While carrying her third child, extreme nausea and sickness held her back from attending Prince George’s first day of school and forced Kensington Palace to announce the couple’s news earlier than anticipated.

Throughout her pregnancy however, the 36-year-old has carried out multiple royal engagements in some seriously covetable maternity wear.

Where will the Duchess of Cambridge welcome her third child?

The Duchess of Cambridge will give birth in the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s Hospital where she welcomed Prince George (July 2013) and Princess Charlotte (May 2015).

Will the royal baby be in line to the throne?

The royal baby will be fifth in line to the throne thanks to the Succession to the Crown Act 2013 which enables future offspring – regardless of gender – to take the crown.

But this wasn’t always the case. Well into the 21st century, gender played a huge role in whether or not a child would become heir to the throne.

But after it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were set to welcome their first child, parliament introduced the revolutionary law to enable the couple’s child to become next in line regardless of its gender.

Therefore, Princess Charlotte is now ahead of her younger sibling even if the royal couple welcome a second son.

Will the royal baby be a girl or a boy?

Kensington Palace has not yet revealed the gender of the third royal child and it is believed that the royal couple also do not know the sex of the next royal baby.

However, bookmakers are convinced that the Duchess of Cambridge is set to welcome her second daughter with many firms no longer accepting bets on its gender due to overwhelming speculation.

What will the royal baby be called?

Ever since it was announced that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are set to welcome their third child, speculation over its name has been rife.

Back in February, bookmakers Paddy Power halted future bets on the moniker Mary due to an influx of predictions on it being the name of the third royal baby. This sparked a halt in bets on the gender of the child too and saw odds on Mary slashed from 12/12 to 3/1.

But the traditional moniker has since been overtaken by a surprising contender in the name stakes. According to Ladbrokes, Alice is currently twice as popular a choice than any other names and odds have been slashed to 6/1. Alex Apati from Ladbrokes revealed: “Mary remains the 4/1 favourite as things stand, but it won’t be long before Alice takes over at the head of the market.”

But what if the royal couple welcome a second son?

Albert and Arthur are currently the favourite monikers with odds of 12/1 at Ladbrokes. The names would prove fitting for a third child, as Prince George and Princess Charlotte both adopted monikers from members of the royal family. For example, George is Prince Charles’ middle name while Charlotte adopted Diana and Elizabeth from her late grandmother and the Queen.

It’s also interesting to note that Arthur is one of Prince Charles’ middle names making it a stellar contender.

What does the British public think the royal baby will be called?

According to a recent poll conducted by Casino.org, the nation has a slightly different idea as to what the royal baby will be named.

Londoners think that if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge welcome a girl, they will name her Victoria, Elizabeth or Grace.

However, if the royal couple have a second son, the North East believes the couple may name him James. While Philip, inspired by the Duke of Edinburgh, is the current favourite in East Anglia.

Before Prince George was born in July 2013, his traditional name was the most popular moniker across betting firms William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power. While Alice remained the favourite ahead of Princess Charlotte’s birth in May 2015.

The Duchess of Cambridge is renowned for her innate sense of style and the 36-year-old only further proves her sartorial strength during her pregnancies.

And her third round officially cemented her status as the nation’s most admired style muse. With a thrifty eye, the royal often delights the public by recycling maternity labels on royal engagements.

Kensington Palace has launched an official website dedicated to the third royal baby and will update the public on any news via both the site and its Twitter page.

The site reads: “In October 2017, Kensington Palace announced that The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child. Updates will be posted on this page and on @KensingtonRoyal’s Twitter account as they become available.”
