Dwayne Johnson is a man-mountain at the best of times, but he's really pushing himself to his limits for the upcoming Black Adam movie.

Posting a shot of his post work-out physique to his Instagram page, he's about as pumped as a human man could be.

Veins bulge the length of his arms, and you could chop logs on those pecs.

“The hierarchy of power in the DC universe is about the change,” he captions ominously. “277lbs of mean and nasty.”

He goes on to say that the production of the movie kicks off in 'spring 2021', which in itself is quite the milestone for the on-again, off-again movie project.

Johnson has be circling the DC universe for some time, connected at one time or another to the roles of Shazam and Lobo.

He was confirmed for the role of Black Adam in 2017, and was even going to make an appearance in the Shazam! movie.

However, DC decided to make the Black Adam movie a standalone origin story instead, with Jaume Collet -Serra – who has directed Johnson in the upcoming Jungle Cruise – signed on to helm the project.

A villain/anti-hero character, he'll be joined on screen by Noah Centino and Aldis Hodge, who are set to play Atom Smasher and Hawkman of the Justice Society of America.

It's also thought that the DC characters Doctor Fate and Cyclone will also make an appearance.

A release date for the movie is currently unspecified.
