Watch: Dwayne Johnson surprises family of fans with new puppy at Super-Pets screening.
Dwayne Johnson has surprised a family of his fans with a new puppy at a screening of his new film DC League of Super Pets.
The former wrestling star appeared at the screening in disguise as his character Krypto the Super Dog who is Superman's canine companion.
Johnson appeared on stage with the Hernandez family and took off his disguise and said: "I have something special for you guys, I'll be right back."
The actor then reappeared with a rescue puppy named Quail who had been with the Best Friends Animal Society, an animal welfare organisation working to end the killing of dogs and cats in shelters in America by 2025.
The family had always had a dream of having a dog and Johnson presented them with Quail, saying: "I wanna welcome your newest family member. This is Quail, would you like to hold him?"
The Hernandez family then posed for a selfie with Johnson who was still in costume as Krypto.
Johnson also posted the experience on his social media, writing on Instagram: "Best part was finding a loving home with the Hernandez family for my lil' guy, Quail."
The Baywatch star added: “Stuff like this will always be the best part of my job."
Johnson stars in DC League of Super-Pets alongside a vast voice cast including his frequent collaborator Kevin Hart, John Krasinski, Kate McKinnon, Keanu Reeves, Olivia Wilde, Jameela Jamil and Natasha Lyonne.
The film follows a team of pets who must rescue the Justice League who have been kidnapped by Lex Luthor.
Johnson will also soon be seen in the titular role in superhero film Black Adam. Black Adam will be the 11th installment to the DC Extended Universe and is a spin-off from Shazam!.
Black Adam also stars Pierce Brosnan and Aldis Hodge.
DC League of Super Pets is in cinemas from 29 July.
