Dwayne Johnson To Headline Die Hard-Style Action Movie Skyscraper

Dwayne Johnson continues his ongoing mission to never, ever take any time off.

The workaholic wrestler-turned-big screen superstar has announced yet another new project in ‘Skyscraper,’ an action thriller which will reunite Johnson with his ‘Central Intelligence’ writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber.

The project would seem to have a lot of folks in Hollywood excited, as The Hollywood Reporter tells us it was at the centre of a bidding war. The winning bid came from Legendary, who reportedly made a ‘major seven-figure deal’ for the movie.

Little has been revealed plot-wise about ‘Skyscraper’, except that it’s “an adventure thriller that takes place in a mega-skyscraper set in China.”

Inevitably, it’s said to have echoes of ‘Die Hard’ and ‘The Towering Inferno’ - though we think it’s safe to assume it bears no relation to the 1996 straight-to-video thriller ‘Skyscraper,’ which starred Anna Nicole Smith.

No production or release dates for ‘Skyscraper’ have yet been announced - but presumably they’ll have a job squeezing it in around everything else Dwayne Johnson has on his schedule.

Having not long since wrapped on the ‘Baywatch’ movie, Johnson is also shooting ‘Fast & Furious 8,’ San Andreas 2,′ ‘Rampage,’ the ‘Jumanji’ remake, and the next season of TV show ‘Ballers’ in 2016.

We’d wonder how he does it, but - you know - he’s Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson.

Johnson’s latest, ‘Central Intelligence,’ hits UK cinemas on 29 June.
