Dylan O'Brien In First Sighting Since ‘Maze Runner’ On-Set Accident

Dylan O'Brien Is Unrecognizable in First Sighting Since Maze Runner On-Set Accident

Dylan O'Brien looks like a new man.

The Maze Runner: The Death Cure actor, 24, was spotted out for the first time since he was injured on the set of the movie nearly five months ago.

O'Brien was almost unrecognizable under a thick beard when a fan noticed him at a Jamba Juice in Sherman Oaks, California yesterday.

“MY LIFE HAS BEEN MADE, meeting you was the best thing ever,” fan Vanessa Denegri tweeted on Sunday, along with a photo of the newly scruffy actor. She also told a commenter, “He was so sweet! He was laughing.”

Maze Runner production was halted back in late April after O'Brien suffered serious injuries in an onset accident back on March 18.

He was reportedly “in a harness on top of a moving vehicle when he was pulled off the vehicle unexpectedly and hit by another vehicle,” sources told The Hollywood Reporter. O'Brien suffered a “concussion, facial fracture and lacerations,” according to THR, citing a report from regulatory agency WorkSafeBC.

Soon after the accident, director Wes Ball took to Twitter to apologize “for the grief this accident has caused his friends and family as well as my wonderful cast and crew.”

“Well, it’s been a whirlwind of emotions these past few days,” Ball wrote in a handwritten letter he tweeted. “I’ve been overwhelmed with feelings of anger and sadness and guilt. But, ultimately I find myself left with a deep love and respect for Dylan. He is one tough cookie.”

Production had been set to resume in May, but was postponed again while O'Brien recovered, according to Entertainment Weekly.

“His injuries are very serious and he needs more time to recover,” publicist Jennifer Allen said in a statement to EW.
